Racking Inspection | Rack Safety | Legal Compliance
What?
Storage equipment in the workplace includes adjustable pallet racking, cantilever racking, long span shelving and mezzanine floors.
The HSE classifies all the above storage equipment as “work equipment”
and is regulated by PUWER. (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations: 1998)
Why?
PUWER states that all storage equipment in the workplace should be:
- Suitable for its intended purpose
- Regularly maintained to ensure safety
- Inspected regularly by a competent person
Racking Inspection is carried out to EN BS 15635:2008 Steel Static Storage systems.
This is the recognised standard throughout Great Britain and Europe for the application and
maintenance of all storage equipment and is the only approved code of practise. (ACOP)
